[ Of course she's awake when she gets this. Her sleep schedule is erratic at best, and being on a spaceship in a small enclosed space with a bunch of strangers doesn't help that at all. She is, however, kind of grumbly and sleepy when she checks her comm. ]

I asked him to. People aren't exactly taking to "Commander" well, and I can't blame them for it. So we met on the beach, talked for a while, and he picked one out.

[ The next response takes a bit of time where she rubs her eyes, climbs out of bed and quietly pads into the bridge to better have this conversation. She really doesn't have to read in between the lines here to understand that given a name means 100% that he simply didn't have one before and took "Commander" for the absence of anything better. ]
